History
In the mid 1930's, the Botek family began selling Christmas trees at our small family run grocery store. This sparked an interest in raising trees and in 1950 a couple of acres of Scotch pine were planted near Lehighton, PA. The youngest child in the Botek family, Francis, enjoyed working with the trees from year to year. In 1964, Francis and his wife Margaret bought about 25 acres of land in the beautiful Mahoning Valley.
Over the next several years, Francis converted the one time dairy farm into what we now call the "home farm" of Crystal Spring Tree Farm. During this time, Francis and Margaret operated both the tree farm as well as the grocery store along with a family of their own. Their three children, Francine, Alison, and Chris were raised between the grocery store and the tree farm and were always encouraged to help at each. This sometimes proved to be the biggest challenge for Francis and Margaret.
In 1978, 15 more acres were added to the farm with the purchase of an adjoining parcel of land. This land was quickly put into production. Again in 1984, Crystal Spring Tree Farm expanded with the addition of 15 more acres. 1984 was a big year for the Botek family; Francis and Margaret gave up the grocery business and decided to work the tree farm full time. In 1985 the family moved to the farm where they currently reside.
The tree farm helped put the Botek's three children through college and was gradually growing bigger each year. The youngest of the Botek's children, Chris, took a serious interest in the farm. After graduating from Penn State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Plant Science, Chris came back to work on the farm full time in 1995.
In recent years, we have been expanding the farm by planting leased land. We now lease 5 different farms in the Lehighton area. Today, Crystal Spring Tree Farm propagates about 15 varieties of evergreen trees on nearly 200 acres of land.
From our small beginnings in front of our corner grocery store to where we are today, Botek Trees and Crystal Spring Tree Farm have always stood for quality.
 We have supplied trees to many famous people and many special families. Our trees have decorated Rockefeller Center in New York City several times and we have had the honor of supplying our state capitol tree in Harrisburg, PA three times.
Christmas trees have been in the Botek family for nearly 75 years. We hope that a visit to Crystal Spring Tree Farm will bring the same joy to your family that Christmas trees have brought to ours.
